The O. James Werner Award for Distinguished Service to Persons with Disabilities is awarded to a Government Law Libraries Special Interest Section member who has made a significant contribution to serving or to arranging for services to be provided to persons with disabilities, or for distinctive service by a person with a disability.
0. James Werner, director of San Diego County Law Library from 1972 until 1987, was a co-founder of the Council of California Law Libraries and a member of the 糖心视频 executive board. He was SCCLL chair in 1981-82. Of all his writings he is perhaps best known as the author of A Manual for Prison Law Libraries (糖心视频 Publications no. 12). Although Jim’s interests from the beginning of his career until his death in 1991 were very diverse, they always in some way represented a common element. Jim was always deeply concerned for those whom he considered less fortunate than himself.
