Qualifications For Liaisons
- Liaisons will be chosen by the CRIV Chair in consultation with the CRIV Vice Chair and the ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ President.
- The CRIV Chair will consult CRIV members' committee applications and conflict of interest forms when choosing liaisons.
- Liaisons will be members of the CRIV Advocacy Subcommittee, to also include the Chair and the Vice Chair.
- Liaisons must not be currently employed by a vendor.
- It is preferred that liaisons meet at least one of the four criteria:
- Currently serves as CRIV Chair
- Currently serves as CRIV Vice Chair
- Served at least one year on the CRIV Advocacy Subcommittee
- Worked directly with vendors on a day-to-day basis for at least two years.
Responsibilities of Liaisons
- Liaisons will review ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ's antitrust policies at the beginning of their term and consult with ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ staff as necessary. This includes ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ's Vendor Relations Policy.
- Liaisons will be assigned a single vendor for the year.
- Liaisons, in consultation with the Chair, will serve as the primary contact for their assigned vendor when the CRIV Advocacy Subcommittee responds to Requests for Assistance.
- Liaisons will schedule semi-annual conference calls with the vendor. The agenda for the call will be initiated by the CRIV liaison, and all participants can submit agenda items. The agenda will be approved by all parties prior to the call. Participants will include:
- The assigned liaison for that vendor
- The ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ Executive Director
- The primary library relations contact for that vendor
- If necessary, one or more additional representatives of the vendor or the CRIV Advocacy Subcommittee.
Adding Value to Semi-Annual Calls:
To add value to semi-annual calls, vendor representatives and CRIV vendor liaisons will consider ways that the CRIV-vendor liaison relationship can expand beyond product marketing.The CRIV liaison will:
- Solicit vendor-specific questions and concerns from other CRIV members in advance of the call.
- Monitor ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ member communications such as My Communities for questions or concerns to present for discussion.
- Request that vendor representatives concentrate their remarks on not more than five recent product developments, focusing on the product use case and information that the vendors want ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ members, specifically, to know.
- Request that the vendor representatives provide short-term trial access to the CRIV liaison for any new or enhanced products that the vendor intends to showcase during the semi-annual call.
- Request that the vendor representatives consider the range of ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ members’ library types and the diversity of these libraries’ needs and concerns when planning presentations for the semi-annual call.
- Emphasize to the vendor’s liaison that the CRIV Connection article is the CRIV liaison’s report and observations but will be shared in advance of the publication date for fact checking.
Topics for discussion may include:
- Information from the vendor they believe pertinent to ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ and law libraries
- An update on ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ programs and activities of interest to the vendor
- Requests for Assistance, specific to that vendor, that have been submitted
- Topics of interest related to the work of the CRIV Advocacy Subcommittee
- Recent or upcoming changes or developments regarding the vendor's products or policies
- Other issues of relevance to the discussion.
- Liaisons will be responsible for the following reports and communications after each conference call:
- Written report to the ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ Executive Board
- Verbal report to CRIV
- Written report for CRIV Connection.
