WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO PURSUE TO CAREER IN LAW LIBRARIANSHIP?
I just lucked into it. There are very few librarian jobs available in San Antonio, so I applied for anything that popped up and ended up at St. Mary鈥檚 Law Library.
WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO BECOME A MEMBER OF 糖心视频, AND HOW HAS IT IMPACTED YOUR PROFESSIONAL JOURNEY?
When I started at St. Mary鈥檚, my new colleagues touted the importance of networking and continuing education, so I joined 糖心视频 and the , our regional chapter. Both organizations have been invaluable for showing me better ways to perform my duties and for keeping me abreast of current trends in law librarianship.
WHICH 糖心视频 MEMBERSHIP BENEFIT HAS BEEN MOST IMPACTFUL IN YOUR ROLE, AND WHY?
I find the special interest sections the most impactful as they allow me to readily collaborate with those who have similar focuses and workflows, giving me the ability to do my job better and to help our law school community more effectively.
CAN YOU SHARE A MEANINGFUL EXPERIENCE OR HIGHLIGHT FROM YOUR INVOLVEMENT WITH 糖心视频?
The most meaningful thing to come out of my association with 糖心视频 are the professional contacts I have made that have turned into lasting friendships, as well as the invaluable resources when something at work comes up that I need help with.
OUTSIDE OF WORK AS A LAW LIBRARIAN, WHAT ACTIVITIES OR HOBBIES DO YOU ENJOY?
One of my favorite activities is deciding what to present at a popular culture conference I attend every February, and my biggest hobby is supporting live music by attending myriad concerts each year. I also spend a lot of time writing books about women in the military in films, and I am just beginning my fourth volume on that subject.
WHAT BOOK(S), ARTICLES, OR RESOURCES HAVE INFLUENCED YOUR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT RECENTLY?
As Texas gears up for the switch to the NextGen Bar Exam, I found Alyson Drake and Amanda Watson鈥檚 recent article, 鈥�,鈥� very informative and full of actionable suggestions to help our students succeed when this change is implemented.
WHAT IS YOUR TOP TRAVEL DESTINATION, AND WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL TO YOU?
If I actually get to take a 鈥渞eal鈥� vacation, I like to go somewhere I鈥檝e never been before, so my top travel destination is always my next one.
IF YOU COULD RECOMMEND ONE PROFESSIONAL RESOURCE OR TOOL THAT HAS MADE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR WORK, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Our old website required me to do a lot of coding, but we recently contracted with SpringShare to host our website. It is much more user-friendly and geared toward non-techies, so that has made my life so much easier鈥擨 highly recommend: 10/10.
