MEET YOUR HOSTS

 

Kathleen (Katie) Brown is the associate dean for information resources at Charleston School of Law. A recognized leader in legal technology and ethics, she was named a 2024 vLex Fastcase 50 honoree and received the 2024 AALS Section of Technology, Law & Legal Education Technology & Ethics Award for her contributions to advancing these areas in legal education.

Brown holds a JD from Seattle University School of Law with a focus on intellectual property law, an MS in Library and Information Science from Drexel University, and a BFA from DePaul University. She is a frequent CLE instructor on topics including legal ethics, artificial intelligence, legal technology, process optimization, and legal research. Her teaching experience spans courses such as Legal Technology for Practice, Art of Advocacy, specialized legal research, and multiple courses on artificial intelligence.

An active member of ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ, Brown has served in numerous leadership roles, including on the ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ Executive Board from 2011 to 2014. Her research interests encompass intellectual property, legal technology in education, artificial intelligence, and acting skills for lawyers. Her recent scholarship, co-authored with Jessica de Perio Wittman, is published in Volume 8 of the Journal of Legal Technology at Texas and available online: Who is Shaping Technological Competence in ABA-Accredited Law Schools?

 

Andre Davison is the director of the Harris County Robert W. Hainsworth Law Library, serving the third-largest county in the United States. He is the first African American Director in the Law Library’s 110-year history. With 30 years of experience across the legal and corporate sectors, Andre is a recognized leader in advancing diversity, innovation, and technology-enabled service delivery in the legal industry.

Davison has held numerous leadership roles with ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ, including serving on the Executive Board (2022–2025). His work reflects a deep commitment to strengthening member engagement, elevating the profession, and expanding the impact of law libraries in their communities.

His accomplishments have earned multiple honors, including his law firm’s Diversity Award (2018), winning the ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ Innovation Tournament (2019), and receiving the Fastcase 50 award (2020), which recognizes the law’s most innovative and visionary leaders. In 2021, he was elected Fellow of the College of Law Practice Management, and most recently, he received the Houston Bar Association President’s Award for his service as 2024–2025 Co-Chair of the HBA County Law Library Committee.

He currently serves on the Access to Justice Network Advisory Board, the State Bar of Texas Access to Justice Technology Committee, and as Co-Chair of the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Committee. He holds a BBA in Marketing from the University of Houston and an MS in Information Science from the University of Texas.

SERVE AS THE NEXT EDITOR OF ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ SPECTRUM

ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ is seeking the next Editor for ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ Spectrum, a volunteer position with a three-year term beginning July 23, 2025, following the Annual Meeting & Conference. This is a wonderful opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of the Association and make a significant impact in the profession.

As Editor, you will:

  • consult with the ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ Spectrum Editorial Board to shape the publication’s long-term editorial direction and fulfill its charge,
  • monitor trends in law librarianship and legal technology to ensure timely, relevant content,
  • elect themes, topics, authors, and articles for each issue in collaboration with the Editorial Board, and
  • review article submissions and coordinate Editorial Board feedback to ensure high-quality content.

Since 1908,ÌýLaw Library Journal (LLJ)Ìýhas been the official journal of the ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ. Scholarly articles on law, legal materials, and librarianship are the mainstay of the Journal. LLJ has been a peer-reviewed publication since 2019. LLJ is published quarterly and is available as a digital-only publication with a print on demand option.

BECOME THE NEXT EDITOR OF LAW LIBRARY JOURNAL

The Law Library Journal (LLJ) Editor leads the Law Library Journal Editorial Board, andÌýcurates compelling content for each quarterly issue, ensuring it informs, engages, and reflects the interests of ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ members.

As Editor, you will:

  • consults with the Law Library Journal Editorial Board to fulfill its charge, including the long-range editorial content and direction of the Journal,
  • review submitted articles and make a final decision on acceptance/revision/rejection, and
  • follow up with the Editorial Board on assigned tasks, which could entail editing or mentoring an author.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience as a writer and/or editor
  • Background in academic publishing, either through scholarly work or prior journal experience
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Significant experience in the law library profession
  • Active ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ membership with a record of involvement with the Association
